App Documentation

This page documents how the Maestro AI Search Bar works and how to configure it. For a guided setup, start with the getting-started tutorial.

    How search works

Maestro indexes your Shopify catalog (products, descriptions, collections, prices, images, and publication status). When a shopper searches in natural language, Maestro interprets the intent, matches it to your catalog using semantic understanding rather than keyword overlap, ranks the best results, and generates a short explanation of why each product fits. It can also answer buying questions inline, such as store contact and order-tracking questions, when that information is available.

    Placement options

The search bar can be placed in several ways, configurable per device:

    • Auto: detects your theme header and mounts there.
    • Inline (custom selector): replaces a chosen element on the page using a CSS selector, so the bar lives exactly where you want, on desktop and mobile.
    • Sticky top bar: a persistent bar above the page.
    • Header icon: an icon that opens the search as a popup or expanding strip.

    Design

Icon style and accent colors are configurable so the experience matches your theme. The widget isolates its own styles to avoid conflicts with theme CSS and loads asynchronously to keep your storefront fast.

    Analytics and recommendations

    • Search Analytics: users engaged, engagement rate, search-to-click, search-to-conversion, and revenue influenced by search.
    • Daily Brief: a once-a-day summary of store performance and search-driven recommendations, split by team role.
    • Recommendations: prioritized actions ranked by the revenue each fix is worth, with one-click apply.
    • Business Outcomes: measured revenue from each applied change, compared with last week and last month.

    Attribution

Maestro connects search sessions to resulting orders using a first-party session identifier (the maestro_sid cookie), which stores only a random ID. This is how search-driven revenue is measured.

    Privacy and data

Maestro processes search queries and catalog text to power the experience and retains search and analytics events for up to 36 months. See the privacy policy for full details, including data deletion and Shopify data-request handling.
